Product details
No classic meeting is complete without one or more round-nose TLF 16 vehicles – this generation of prototypes is simply indestructible and holds significant historical importance in the realm of firefighting for WIKING. The alligator hood and the roaring Deutz diesel engine under the round hood contributed to its magnificent appearance at the time. The tank fire engine TLF 16, built by Magirus in Ulm, served as a reliable workhorse for many hundreds of fire departments across Germany for years. After all, a fire-fighting centrifugal pump at the rear with a capacity of 1,600 liters per minute was just as much a part of its equipment as the 2,400-liter water tank, which was perfect for rapid response or supply services. From 1955 to 1961, the round-nose model was produced and was deployed throughout Germany with its 125 HP air-cooled 6-cylinder Deutz diesel engine. In the 1970s, most of these veteran vehicles were retired and replaced by forward-control chassis. WIKING has assigned the model with a crew cabin a significantly greater number of details, contributing to its model-making finesse. Additional features include fine mirrors, ladder components, searchlights, as well as A-suction hoses. The driver's cabin with the engine hood and body is in carmine red, while the chassis, mirrors, leveling rods (accessories), and searchlights are in black, and the interior is brown. The driver's cabin features silvered door handles and decorative trim. The black radiator grille bears the Magirus trademark and has a silvered grille border. The rims are black. Side inscriptions "Magirus Deutz" are in silver. The body roof is in silver-gray, the ladder is in fawn brown, and the suction hoses are black. The illuminated area of the searchlight is hand-painted.
