The largest city of Gondor, the citadel Minas Tirith, is a towering, fortified community built into the slopes of the White Mountains.
Minas Tirith has seven levels, separated by concentric walls and crowned by the tower of Ecthelion and the courtyard of the fountain where the White Tree of Gondor grows. In the center of the city, a large rock outcrop juts out from the mountain like the bow of a ship.
When war reaches Gondor, Minas Tirith is besieged by the forces of Mordor in the east. The free peoples of Middle-earth ride out from Rohan and beyond to defend the city, making their last stand against the overwhelming forces of the Dark Lord in Minas Tirith.
