This unjustly forgotten rebound game is based on the Basque "Pelota" (two players hit a rubber ball against a wall with a bandaged or bare hand). Jokari does not require a wall and spares the hands: the ball is attached to a base with a 5-meter-long rubber band and is returned using a beech wood racket. Although originally designed for two players, it can also be played alone. In the 1940s and 50s, it gained popularity (among other things, under the punny name "cable tennis") especially in England and the USA. Today, the game remains very popular, particularly in France, where it has almost reached cult status.
