The model is a replica of the Sturmgeschütz III Ausführung B. The Sturmgeschütz III (or StuG III for short) was developed to destroy fortifications and support infantry assaults. This means that the assault gun is actually the most produced armored vehicle of the German army during World War II (with over 10,000 units built). Based on the proven Panzer III chassis, this vehicle had no turret, allowing it to mount a stronger weapon and more armor than a conventional tank while reducing production costs. As the German military fought against well-armored Soviet tanks, the purpose of the StuG III was expanded to that of a tank destroyer. Model B was completed in June 1940. Compared to its predecessor, it featured wider tracks and a simplified transmission. It was protected at the front by 50 mm of armor, and its 75 mm StuK 37 L/24 gun gave it a stronger striking power than the Panzer IIs, IIIs, and IVs. However, the absence of a turret made it more vulnerable to more mobile attackers, while the lack of a machine gun left it susceptible to infantry assaults.
