The Deep Forest - Softcover, 70 pages (EN edition)
Finally, you have driven the human intruders out of your monster homeland. You are left with a peaceful year until the next group of heroes appears and disputes your claim to the forest. But until then, you have the chance to tear down the traces of their settlement and rediscover yourselves.
In The Deep Forest, you play a group of monsters who must reclaim their forest after years of human occupation. At the same time, you will also take on the outside world, which poses challenges to your community and holds new and old discoveries. You will document all of this visually on a map throughout the game. In addition to this book, you will need a deck of cards (French deck), a sheet for your map, pens and erasers, two index cards, six six-sided dice, and about 20 markers.
Avery Alder and Mark Diaz Truman draw on the mechanics of A Quiet Year in The Deep Forest to tell a different story in a fantasy setting. However, the idea of drawing a map and making tough decisions remains intact. Naturally, a community of monsters must make very different choices than survivors in a post-apocalypse.
The Deep Forest is a standalone game. A Quiet Year is not required to play.
