Fitting a Clydesdale with shoes can be quite a sweaty task for a blacksmith. The horseshoes are not only extremely large but also weigh about 2.5 kilograms. This means they are four to five times heavier than the shoes of warmbloods or thoroughbreds. Although Clydesdales are generally massive and particularly heavy, they can move very elegantly. They are known for lifting their beautiful white legs in a particularly lively and high manner. Therefore, they are not only used as draft horses but are also popular for shows and parades.
