Product details
In addition to the Class 103, the Class 112 in beige-red livery was certainly one of the most elegant appearances in the DB fleet of the 1970s and 80s. To haul the Rheingold trains and the Rheinpfeil group, which was converted to locomotive-hauled trains, DB put six E 10.1 (E 10 1239–1244) into service in May 1962, equipped with special bogies from Henschel designed for 160 km/h. When the E 10 1265–1270, originally intended for these bogies, became available in the autumn of 1962, the E 10 1239–1244 were converted back to the standard version, and the E 10 1265–1270 took over these prestigious services, along with the E 10 1308–1312, which were delivered shortly thereafter. At the end of the 1960s, the last series of the E 10.12, consisting of 112 485–504, was delivered with Krupp bogies designed for 160 km/h. In November 1994, the 114 504 (formerly 112 504) was renumbered to 110 504 and was in service in local transport around Stuttgart. Due to its special livery, the locomotive was a particularly frequently photographed workhorse among railway enthusiasts.
