Roco 74045 H0 Set of 2: ÖBB EC 60 "Maria Theresia" 1st class type Amz, 2nd class type Bmz

In the course of the Austro-Takt, three express trains were offered as fast day connections from Vienna to Switzerland in the early 1980s. The "Zürichsee" terminated in the city of Zurich, which gave it its name. The trains operated as corridor trains, meaning there were no border and customs formalities, traveling through the German corner. To avoid a derailment in Rosenheim, the Rosenheim loop was constructed at the expense of the ÖBB. With the timetable change in May 1987, the new train category EuroCity (EC) was also introduced by the Austrian Federal Railways. These are international train connections that had to meet certain quality criteria. In addition to punctuality, cleanliness, better service, and a minimum average speed of 90 km/h, the use of air-conditioned cars in both classes was agreed upon. The express train "Zürichsee" was converted into the EC "Maria Theresia." This train was composed of the then-modern Eurofima cars of type UIC-Z and consisted of a block of first and second class cars, with a dining car equipped with a train telephone in between. The EC "Maria Theresia" also included a half-luggage car in the train set. This period also saw a new color scheme for the ÖBB passenger cars. For cars with elevated comfort, the lower half of the car and decorative stripes above the windows were blood orange, while the roof, window band, skirt, and bogies were umbra gray. This feature is also taken into account in some models of the implementation.
