Product details
Diesel locomotive 218 445 of the Deutsche Bundesbahn. The most important representative of the V-160 locomotive family is the diesel locomotive of the series 218. After 12 prototype machines, the series vehicles were delivered starting in 1971 by the companies Krupp, Henschel, Krauss-Maffei, and MaK in four slightly different production series. The machines, capable of speeds up to 140 km/h and with a power output of up to 2,800 HP, are used in both passenger and freight train services. Over time, the series 218 has undergone several color variations. The first 218s were delivered in the typical color scheme for diesel locomotives, which was purplish red. From 1975 onwards, the colors ocean blue/beige defined the external appearance of the locomotives.
