Technically, the device is top. I used to have a Silhouette Portrait, which is much more "lotteryy" in comparison. Cricut Maker is heavy and solid. The applications seem to be very diverse (haven't tried very much yet).
The software leaves a lot to be desired. Takes you by the hand for every little step. Tools in it are very limited. I now work mainly on Inkspace - at least you can import .svg relatively easily.
But the worst part is that you are forced onto the Cricut Cloud. You can create a project offline, but you have to be online to plot. You can choose to have projects in the cloud, or in the cloud and stored locally....
If I had known about this forced cloud solution, I would not have bought the plotter. @Galaxus, would be nice if you were more transparent here. Bin darob very disappointed, so gibts - despite great machine - only two stars.Pro

The Cricut Maker is wonderful! From the first use, we know that we have made the right choice and for several reasons:\n- the Cricut community is huge! Which means there are plenty of free resources online. Full of enthusiasts who create free tutorials, share their ideas and help you when needed. So if you hesitate with another brand, the community that goes with the Cricut can tip the scales. \n- you do not have to pay for the subscription if you do not feel like it. If you are creative, you can download free design software from Framasoft, create your design, export it to .png and use it on Cricut's free software, Cricut Design Space. \n- Cricut Design Space is very easy to use, very intuitive. \n- The machine itself cuts 300 kinds of support: paper, cardboard, fabric, coated fabric as well as leather, cork, some woods up to 2.4mm. It can also engrave, punch, fold pretty grooves, draw and write (simple strokes) among so many other things. \n- more concretely, you can customize your tshirts, your cups, create greeting cards, key chains, labels, children's books, finally it's unlimited!\n- we can buy accessories that allow us to do more and more things, the software is updated.\n- The Cricut adventure is not about to stop so it is a good purchase that will last in the long term!

Easy to use, this Cricut cuts a lot of materials and allows you to create a lot of things! I recommend it, even for beginners.
