Powerful, compact, and yet extremely delicate, this new construction from PIKO showcases itself beautifully. The robust design of the prototype has been perfectly captured and scaled down into the model. Thanks to the intricate bar frame and the unobstructed view in the engine area, the hefty boiler appears to almost float. This impression is further enhanced by the fine wheel stars of the chassis, which also features a delicate brake linkage. The typical structural characteristics of the prototypes have also been taken into account in the model's design. The crystal-clear window inserts of the cab and the unobstructed interior allow a view of the detailed boiler and cab rear wall. The zinc die-cast and metal parts give the model a very high weight, which, combined with the finely tuned motor with flywheels, ensures optimal driving characteristics. The factory digital variants come with switchable authentic lighting for the engine and the driver's cab. Additionally, the flickering in the firebox can be digitally controlled. The Expert Plus model also features digitally switchable couplings and a wheel-synchronized pulsed vaporizer. The model carries the quality mark fits mfx®. To ensure that digital decoders can be reliably used by all users of the current Märklin digital central units, a new quality mark "fits mfx®" has been introduced in collaboration with Märklin and other manufacturers. This can only be used by digital decoders that have undergone a special mfx® test and passed it completely. These decoders, as well as the locomotives in which they are installed, carry the quality mark "fits mfx®," which certifies unrestricted mfx® functionality. This means that PIKO products with the "fits mfx®" logo now fully support the diverse functions of mfx®.
