At the turn of the 16th century, King Manuel I commissioned the greatest craftsmen of Portugal to build grand buildings. After the completion of the palaces of Évora and Sintra, the king wanted to construct a summer pavilion to honor the most famous members of the royal family. This construction was intended for the most talented artisans – whose skills would fulfill the splendor that the royal family deserved. Unfortunately, King Manuel I died before the construction even began. In Azul: Summer Pavilion, players return to Portugal to fulfill the task that was never started. As master craftsmen, you must use the best materials to create the summer pavilion while carefully avoiding waste of supplies. Only the best will rise to the challenge of honoring the Portuguese royal family. Azul: Summer Pavilion is the third installment in the award-winning Azul series! In Azul: Summer Pavilion, players are tasked with tiling the floors of King Manuel's summer pavilion – a building meant to honor esteemed members of the Portuguese royal family. Fans will immediately recognize the central design in the Azul style but will be fascinated by the new scoring mechanisms based on set collection and pattern building. Players will also appreciate the new style tiles in the box – elongated diamonds and stunning player and scoring boards. Azul: Summer Pavilion is a feast for the mind and the eyes! Azul: Summer Pavilion was designed by the world-renowned Michael Kiesling and illustrated by the celebrated artist Chris Quilliams, inviting fans of Azul to return to Portugal. Azul: Summer Pavilion is designed for artisans aged 8 and up. While the construction of the summer pavilion would have taken years, a game of Azul: Summer Pavilion typically lasts about 30 to 45 minutes.
