Mythical creatures

For the people of pre-industrial times, nature was a wild and sometimes dangerous place, despite extensive trade relations. Forests, swamps, and mountains were considered the home of magical creatures and fabulous animals, whose fascination remains unbroken to this day. Lindworms and unicorns, house dragons and wolpertingers continued to live on in legends and tales, which were collected and documented in the 19th century by the Brothers Grimm and many others. This book takes a journey into the world of mythical creatures from the German-speaking region. The authors have reviewed, sorted, and prepared the extensive and diverse material preserved in literature. Based on this, Florian Schäfer created numerous lifelike representations of mythical creatures based on historical descriptions, making these mythological beings uniquely and fascinatingly accessible.
