Monopoly FC Basel

On November 15, 1893, eleven interested readers of the Basler Nationalzeitung met at the Basel location of the shoemakers' guild, including members of a rowing club, academics, and a sports journalist who translated the football rules from English, and decided to establish FC Basel. The club colors were set to red and blue. Just eleven days later, the club played its first match on the newly established sports field Landhof.

In 1953, FC Basel celebrated its first championship title in the club's history with only one loss in 26 games. During the Benthaus era, FC Basel won 7 championship titles and 2 cup victories. Legends such as Karl Odermatt and Othmar Hitzfeld also played during the Benthaus era.

This was followed by many unsuccessful years, including relegation to the NLB in 1988. After promotion, FC Basel regained strength under the presidencies of René C. Jäggi, Gigi Oehri, and Bernhard Heusler, dominating Swiss football since the early 2000s and gaining significant recognition on the international stage.
