Despite their unbeatable night vision, a cat's eyesight during the day is not too different from that of a human. For this reason, cats are more active hunters at night, searching for small rodents and birds. The average house cat sleeps about 18 hours a day and tends to spend its waking hours hunting for food. While wildcats are solitary animals, domestic cats enjoy the attention of humans and other animals and often get along well with some dogs.
