A simple microscope is a type that uses only one lens for magnification. The electron microscope is a type of microscope that uses an electron beam to produce an image of the sample. A phase contrast microscope utilizes the phase differences of light rays that pass through different parts of an object to create an image where the details of the object are clearly visible despite their nearly uniform refractive index.
