The Brotherhood of Q had trained Uno to wear the helmet of Quetzalcoatl and defend the city of Vanity as well as the world from the god of darkness, Tezcatlipoca. However, when Uno arrived in Vanity, he encountered a vigilante named Bloodtype, also known as Dr. Curtis Falconer. Bloodtype died at the end of their battle, but not before revealing to Uno that he would start his work at St. Bartholomew's Hospital that very day. Deciding that he needed a civilian identity, Uno impersonated Falconer and protected Vanity as a superhero, later nicknamed Aztek by the press. After teaming up with Green Lantern and Batman, Aztek briefly joined the JLA but died during an attack on the living planet Mageddon, which was considered the second incarnation of Tezcatlipoca.
