The Pyraminx is a mechanical puzzle in the form of a regular tetrahedron. It is similar in principle and structure to Ernő Rubik's magic cube and is therefore often referred to as a magic pyramid. Each of the four sides consists of nine triangular segments, each of which has the same colour in the basic position. Thanks to the internal rotation mechanism, both the side faces and the corners can be rotated by 120° around their centre to bring them back into alignment. In this way, the moving parts change their position in relation to each other and can be moved almost anywhere in the tetrahedron. The aim of the game of patience is usually to bring the pyraminx from a mixed position back to the ordered basic position in which the colours match.

The mechanics of the Pyraminx are partly similar to those of the 3×3×3 Rubik's Cube.
