Each side has a uniform colour. The aim of the game is to rotate the cube so that each side consists of only one colour. The cube can be rotated by turning one or more layers around their axis. There are various techniques and solution strategies to solve the cube, but in general it all revolves around manipulating the pieces on each side so that they take on the colours corresponding to the original configuration. The Rubik's Cube requires spatial thinking, patience and dexterity to solve. Since its invention in the 1970s, it has become one of the most recognisable and popular puzzles in the world and has inspired a large fan base as well as numerous competitions and records.
