Magic: The Gathering by Richard Garfield is a collectible card game designed as a quick game for short breaks. The game primarily targets role-players, students, and schoolchildren, with a clear focus on fantasy fans. When the author offered the game to Wizards of the Coast, the company was in crisis, and the easily produced game was welcomed with open arms. The company was excited about the idea. Thanks to Magic: The Gathering, it experienced a massive upswing and has since been acquired by the gaming giant Hasbro. Magic cards have been printed in eleven languages since 2011. Players create their individual decks according to set rules and duel against each other, with deck ideas and card combinations offering seemingly endless possibilities.
