The abbreviation TEE evokes memories. Once, these three letters stood for sophisticated travel – on the Trans-European Express. As its era inevitably came to an end, it was IC trains and also night connections that enabled limitless travel. However, European railway administrations were in search of a new product with very high uniform standards and eventually launched the EuroCity. Its inception date was May 31, 1987.
