Product details
The city of Amritsar in India is home to a Golden Temple – Harmandir Sahib. This spectacular structure is the holiest shrine of the Sikh religion and one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in the world. After the temple had been destroyed several times, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the founder of the Sikh Empire in India, rebuilt it in the 19th century, using marble and copper, and gilding the upper floors with gold leaf. This is where the name Golden Temple comes from.
In the worker-placement game Amritsar: The Golden Temple, you take on the roles of generous supporters who assist the Maharaja in the reconstruction of the Golden Temple over three decades. Use the classic Mancala mechanism to deploy workers and your own elephants to perform various actions. Your goal is to donate as much material as possible for the construction phases of the temple and thereby gain more prestige than your competitors. At the end of the third decade, the person with the most prestige points wins this elegant and sophisticated Eurogame.
