Most railways today handle a large portion of freight transport using containers, including the Rhaetian Railway in Graubünden. Since the same containers must be loaded on the narrow-gauge railway as on the standard gauge railway, a special design was necessary: the loading area is lowered between the bogies to ensure that the wagon with a loaded container does not exceed the clearance profile. In addition to containers, these wagons can also carry transport frames, for example for logs, which can then be transferred either completely to standard gauge wagons or to a truck for the final kilometers to the destination. There are various designs of these wagons, particularly regarding the arrangement of the handbrake: some wagons have a handbrake crank mounted on the brake platform, while others feature a large handwheel for operating the brake mounted on the side of the frame.
