Product details
In the early days of freight transport by rail, there were only open and closed wagons. Soon, specialized wagons for specific types of cargo were developed. Even today, open freight cars with gravity unloading, known as self-unloading wagons, are used to transport building materials such as gravel or sand. These wagons are also utilized in track construction to distribute the ballast along the tracks. To unload, the flaps arranged at the bottom are simply opened, allowing the cargo to slide out through the chutes. The Rhaetian Railway also employs such wagons in various versions.
Model of a self-unloading wagon of the Fac design from the Rhaetian Railway. Authentic coloring and lettering from Era VI. Four unloading flaps to open, metal wheelsets. Length over buffers 55 cm.
