Mirror Tangram (game)

Playfully discover symmetrical shapes. Mirror Tangram is a fascinating puzzle game for one or more children aged five and up. It encourages an in-depth exploration of symmetrical figures and geometric shapes. The goal is to arrange the shape pieces in front of a mirror so that the figure created, along with its reflection in the mirror, matches the image on a game card. If several children find it easy to mirror the figures, they can hold a competition using the cards. Additional replacement pieces and mirrors can be ordered for the game. The stack of cards is placed face down on the table, and one card is revealed. The child who first mirrors the target figure wins the card. The winner is the one who has the most cards at the end!

What the children learn: The children discover that each target figure has an axis of symmetry, which can run vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. They realize that by repositioning the mirror, new figures are created. Geometric shapes can be combined to form new shapes: for example, two triangles can create a large triangle, a square, or a parallelogram.
