Product details
1846 The Race for the Midwest is a strategic skill game in which 3-5 participants compete as tycoons to achieve wealth by investing in and operating railroads in the Midwest of the United States. Players start with a capital of $400 to acquire private companies and establish new corporations. The game offers a dynamic experience, as some companies and corporations are randomly removed when there are fewer than five participants, making each game unique. The rounds consist of alternating stock rounds and operating rounds. In the stock rounds, participants buy and sell shares and can create new corporations. In the operating rounds, the majority shareholder (president) makes decisions for the railroads, lays tracks and stations, conducts routes, and declares dividends. Technological progress is represented by the introduction of new types of trains, while older trains become obsolete. The goal is to create a profitable rail network that connects Chicago and St. Louis and serves the markets of the Midwest.
