Product details
The Carrera racing engine type 547 is a legend from the sports car manufacturer Porsche. This technical masterpiece powered vehicles like the 356 and 550 Spyder to numerous racing victories in the 1950s and 1960s, laying the foundation for the Porsche myth. With this kit, you can build a transparent functional model of the four-cylinder boxer engine from 1953 in about six hours.
The transparent functional model kit was developed in collaboration with the Porsche Museum based on original drawings. You will assemble more than 300 partially movable plastic components within approximately six hours to create your own Carrera racing engine. No glue is required, ensuring a pleasant modeling experience. The crankshafts, pistons, and valves move in realistic interaction. Even the ignition sparks in the cylinders are simulated by LEDs. The transparent housing parts make the engine's mechanics and structure visible and understandable from the outside. The integrated sound module featuring the original Porsche engine sound is another highlight of this detailed reproduction of the technical masterpiece from Zuffenhausen.
The Carrera racing engine type 547 was the first engine specifically developed by Porsche for racing applications. The development team led by Ernst Fuhrmann designed this revolutionary unit with a focus on compact construction while maintaining great robustness. The boxer engine initially produced 110 hp and had a displacement of 1.5 liters, powering various Porsche racing cars to numerous legendary successes since 1953. The Carrera racing engine kit brings the crankshaft engine type 547 as a transparent functional model in a scale of approximately 1:3 to your desk. With the assembled model, the functioning of the legendary Fuhrmann engine becomes tangible—a fascinating technical project for young and old alike.
