Fascination Model Railway Landscape

It is the great hour of reconstruction right after the war when Hermann and Edwin Faller return to their hometown Gütenbach 75 years ago with a new business idea. From the very beginning, they focus on the most beautiful sideline in the world: toys! Initially made from cardboard, wood, and plaster, houses, train stations, and trees in a scale of 1:87 are created to fit model railroads. By the end of the 1950s, the demand for accessories gains momentum, as model railroading is on its way to becoming Germany's favorite hobby. Faller succeeds in miniaturizing villages, cities, and entire mountain ranges while simultaneously fueling the creativity of model builders. Fantasy worlds receive their small and large kits - every model railroader crafts according to their own style!

It is the secret of success for the Faller brothers: with the ready-made kits, the oversight of a predictable world is achieved. Only in the picture-perfect landscapes of model railroads—created by hand—do they gain their special aura. Over 75 years, Faller has managed to make the spirit of model building tangible. This wonderfully illustrated and very amusingly written book tells the entire story of the Faller brothers, who are true pioneers of model building:

  • Original advertising photos and sketches, contemporary packaging, and prints of inspiring Faller original documents
  • From model railway houses to landscape design to the AMS slot car track
  • Beautiful dioramas featuring highlights from Faller's production
  • Portraits of important idea contributors and figures in the company's history

Author and miniature specialist Ulrich Biene has already written several works on model cars and model railway accessories and is an excellent connoisseur of the subject.
