Codenames is a deduction game for 2-8 players, divided into two teams, red and blue. The objective is for the spymaster to identify all the spies of their color. The game consists of a grid of 25 words, with the two spymasters having a plan that indicates the arrangement of spies, innocents, and the assassin. Players take turns saying a single word along with a number, which they believe represents the number of cards corresponding to the given word, indicating where their own spies are located. For example, if "Pass" and "Alps" are present and belong to their color, a player might say "Mountain 2." The challenge lies in not confusing the other existing words, as a mistake could reveal enemy spies, aid the opposing team, or worse, activate the assassin, leading to an immediate loss for the team.
