Bullyland Rhodesian dog Nelson

The only recognized dog breed in southern Africa is the Rhodesian Ridgeback. These dogs show the reverse eel line, the Ridge. At long distances they track down game and warn of danger. In their original form they protect the settlements and were later crossed with other breeds by colonial masters. So the mixtures were used for guarding farms and for hunting lions and other big game. Furthermore, their task was to track down game and bind it until the hunters were on the spot. In 1922 the original standard of the Rhodesian Ridgeback was set by the British Francis Richard Barnes and was based on the Dalmatian standard.
