Warren Worthington III managed to overcome his paranoia and became a founding member of the X-Men, where he fought many evils with the help of his mutant abilities. However, after being betrayed by someone he trusted, Angel became a broken hero without wings. In search of healing, Warren fell into the hands of the mutant Apocalypse. He was subjected to brainwashing and both technologically and genetically enhanced. He received a new set of wings – this time made of razor-sharp metal – and developed a dark personality. Now he fights as "Archangel" alongside Apocalypse and his Horsemen.
