But all of this means nothing without a leader who masters the art of governance. Dune: War for Arrakis is a strategic and thematic board game based on the events of the desert war described in Frank Herbert's famous novel Dune. The notorious House Harkonnen, with the support of the imperial Corrino family, fights a terrible battle against the remnants of House Atreides and its allies, the Sand Fremen, for control of Arrakis and its invaluable resource: the spice.

In this gripping asymmetric game, House Harkonnen attempts to conquer Arrakis with its troops and keep the spice flowing to maintain the support of the empire's great powers. Meanwhile, the young Atreides Paul Muad'Dib, now a messiah, must lead the Fremen rebels and struggle against his own prophetic visions to steer the future of Arrakis, the relentless jihad, and the fate of the Kwisatz Haderach.

While the Harkonnen rely on their vehicles, such as ornithopters and transport wings, to move their troops and evade the dangers of the sand, the Atreides harness the power of the desert by riding colossal sandworms into battle. Each faction employs specific strategies to achieve their victory conditions through unique commanders and special planning cards. The war for Arrakis begins now.
