Product details

The T-72 is a Soviet battle tank that has been produced since 1972 by the company Uralvagonzavod and was put into service by the Soviet Army. Besides the Soviet Union, the tank was also manufactured in Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia, and in India under license starting in 1980. The T-72 is currently the most widely used battle tank in the world. It has been exported in large numbers, including to many Middle Eastern countries such as Syria, Libya, Iran, and Iraq. It has seen action in numerous conflicts, including the Lebanon War in 1982, the First and Second Gulf Wars, and the Yugoslav Wars. A total of around 20,000 units were produced, of which Russia still maintains about 9,200, with only around 1,200 being active. The main weapon of the T-72 is the 125-mm D-81TM gun, which was adopted into the armament of the Soviet armed forces under the GRAU index 2A46. It is a smoothbore gun designed to prevent uneven heating due to weather conditions.
