Abacus Zooloretto XXL Extension

Zooloretto XXL is an expansion for Zooloretto, the Game of the Year 2007, and can only be played together with a base game of Zooloretto or Aquaretto.

With this expansion, more animals of each type are added to the game. Fortunately, animals from full enclosures can now be exchanged for victory points. After this exchange, the enclosure is empty and available for new animals again. However, the later you exchange the animals, the fewer points you will receive for them.

The entry into Zooloretto XXL is particularly easy, as the normal Zooloretto game rules have only been expanded to include the exchange of full enclosures for victory points. This small change, however, has far-reaching effects on the gaming experience: While animals were previously scarce, they are now abundant. It is essential to carefully weigh what will earn more points: If you can only exchange the animals from the full enclosure late and for few points, the enclosure may not be full again by the end of the game and will not yield any points. If you keep the animals, you may end up with a full enclosure that could bring a lot of points, but then you won't have space for new animals. And animals in the stable count as negative points, just like in the base game.

An additional incentive to buy comes from the two transport carts, which enhance the two-player game with customized game materials. Owners of Aquaretto can also look forward to additional materials: they receive another expansion board and new tiles that enrich the game with a new tactical element. The pools with the animals now need to be supplied with supply tiles. If the player manages to supply all their pools, they receive bonus points. If they fail, they incur point deductions.
