Product details
As the first place in the Vogtland region, Reichenbach connected to the important North-South railway line Leipzig-Hof in 1846. By 1847, numerous locomotives were based here, and in November 1899, the foundation stone for a new railway depot was laid. The so-called Bw and the transshipment platform were the third largest in the Reichsbahndirektion Dresden during the 1930s. Of the 23 legendary "Sachsenstolz" locomotives, up to 16 were stationed in Reichenbach at times. The well-known author Gero Fehlhauer invites you once again on an exciting journey through time in his hometown of Reichenbach. With over 220 largely unpublished images from the years 1900 to 2008, he pays tribute to a very special piece of local history on the 110th anniversary of the closure of the Reichenbach railway depot in 1999. Over 1,000 employees worked at the railway depot and in freight handling during the GDR era.
