What is the sensor's range (detection distance)? And can it be installed outdoors?

The further away the movement, the less sensitive the sensor.
It works very accurately at ~10m.
Outside, the main problem will be that you have uncontrollable things, such as grass that moves or cats. Therefore, when used for an alarm system, the sensor outside would be a guarantee for false alarms.
