Question about Garmin DriveSmart 66 MT-D

Hello, I received the Garmin DriveSmart 66 MT-D yesterday. During the first exercises at home, I was unfortunately only able to display current traffic information on the sat nav using the app on my mobile via Bluetooth. With Bluetooth off, charging cable in the sat nav and (other side) in the PC, no traffic information was available. In the settings on the sat nav, only the option "Garmin Drive required" is displayed for traffic. On the map page, the message "Traffic information is currently deactivated" is displayed. Can anyone tell me how I can get DAB+ to work? Does it only work with the sat nav in the car connected to the cigarette lighter (I haven't tried it yet as I don't have my own car)? Best regards Stefan K.

Helpful answer

Traffic radio with DAB+ only works in the car with the cable plugged into the cigarette lighter. The DAB+ aerial is built into the cable.

Unfortunately, this has no longer been possible since the beginning of 2025: Garmin MT-D devices in Switzerland can no longer receive traffic information/congestion reports via DAB+ (live traffic) via TPEG, but only via an app on a paired mobile phone. The problem is due to the provider SRG. It has "switched off" the transmission of TPEG data (digital traffic reports for sat navs) in Switzerland at the end of 2024 without warning (as well as the older TMC service, which ran via FM), so that the sat nav will logically no longer receive such reports.
Quote from an SRG e-mail: "Accordingly, traffic reports can no longer be received via the DAB+ network. (...) As the market no longer supports this service, SRG has decided to switch off TPEG at the end of 2024. The bandwidth gained as a result could be used to improve the quality of radio programmes in future."

Not plugged in to PC, like 20 times, DAP, is integrated in the device, housing.
Update only via WiFi, or Bluetooth Internet, i.e. maps.

Garmin account must be available, i.e. the login.

Never connect to the PC, only via the Internet.

The cable is the aerial, no reception without an aerial
