Do I need a DAB-enabled car radio for this navigation system or can it even play DAB radio? Is there a clear difference between satellite and DAB?

Helpful answer

The cheaper MT-S requires a switched-on smartphone with the Garmin Drive app installed to display traffic messages.

The MT-D has integrated reception of traffic reports via DAB+, it does not need a smartphone or a car radio. (For power supply, it only needs the cigarette lighter socket like the MT-S).

No, the sat nav is only a sat nav that receives traffic messages via DAB+ and displays those that affect the planned route. Either only the message and the time delay are displayed or alternative routes with estimated time savings are suggested. The sat nav does not receive radio stations and therefore cannot play them.

Thanks Vivi_S for the question. I had bought the DriveSmart 65 EU MT-D because of the large display and the reception of traffic reports via DAB+. Cool that digitec provides the opportunity for questions and answers.
