The adapter draws a minimal amount of current (hardly / not measurable) from permanent power sockets in the car. You don't have to be afraid. Other, permanently installed things suck more power ;-)

Most cars switch off the 12V connection with the ignition. NDT, the charger will only draw minimal current when no device is connected.
