Can I start or stop charging using a switch contact on a Shelly Mini 3? I want to install the charging station in a semi-public location and then be able to start charging using a switch inside the building. Has anyone tried to see if this can be programmed? Thanks for your help.
Unfortunately, the EV charger does not have any input contacts to enable or disable it. However, as far as I know, you can disable the ‘automatic start of charging when plugged in’ feature in the Shelly app. But this means you’ll have to enable charging in the Shelly app every time you plug in the EV. In my case, I’ve fitted a 25A 4P contactor in the supply line to the CEE16 socket in the fuse box, which I control using a Shelly 1 Mini, allowing me to switch the entire 380V supply on and off, via the app or via a switch/remote control. I can recommend the EV charger, but unfortunately it sometimes displays strange values for the total charging power in the app. Furthermore, unlike all other Shelly devices, it does not support the display of prices based on off-peak and on-peak tariffs.
Hello again. I’ve seen that you can create a scene in the Shelly app to start charging the EV charger. This means you can easily set up a shortcut with another Shelly device, remote control or switch to start charging. (I haven’t tested it, though.)
