With the cartrend trailer socket, a power connection for trailers can be retrofitted at the rear of a vehicle. This socket can supply power not only to flatbed trailers but also to caravans and similar vehicles. This connection socket is compatible with 13-pin trailer plugs, allowing for the operation of the trailer's brake and rear lights. The 13-pin trailer plugs also offer many additional functions. This way, interior lighting, a refrigerator, or even the battery in the caravan can be powered. Additionally, the cartrend trailer socket features an intelligent shutdown for the fog light, which activates when a trailer plug is connected. Pin 2 in the 13-pin trailer plug is reserved for the fog light. When this is active, the trailer socket will turn off the vehicle's own fog light. The socket itself is certified to IP54, making it protected against dust and splashing water. This is ensured by the rubber seals in the lid and at the bottom, as well as the automatic flap mechanism that protects the power connections at all times and can close the trailer socket automatically. The housing of the socket is made of robust and impact-resistant plastic. It is mounted using a practical screw connection. In the vehicle, the trailer socket is directly connected to the on-board network. The voltage is 12 V, and the cartrend trailer socket is approved for a maximum current of 20 A.
