Showering, cooking, drying laundry: Through these activities, humans continuously release water vapor. If there is not enough air exchange – a problem in many modern, well-insulated homes – the indoor air can quickly become too humid. To help you avoid the bothersome and health-damaging mold growth, TFA Dostmann offers a mold detector. The infrared thermometer allows you to measure the surface temperature of vulnerable walls, floors, ceilings, or windows without contact. At the same time, the device monitors the ambient temperature and relative humidity, from which the dew point is calculated. The closer the surface temperature is to the dew point temperature, the greater the risk of mold formation on the measured surface. For example, if the measuring device shows an ambient temperature of 20 °C and a humidity of 65 %, the dew point temperature is 13.2 °C. What does this mean? The air in a room must condense at all points that are cooler than 13.2 °C, meaning that water droplets will form there, potentially leading to mold or mildew stains later on. An integrated traffic light display and bar graph evaluate the measurements concerning mold risk, allowing you to respond with targeted heating and ventilation if necessary. Contactless temperature measurement is made possible by proven infrared technology. You simply aim at the object, press the button, and in seconds, you receive the result. The built-in dual laser sight indicates the actual measurement spot and makes it easier for you to find your target.
