The upper, shorter threaded part under the screw head rotates into the upper wood and securely holds it spaced away from the lower wood. The thread can bear both tensile and compressive loads. This is useful in timber construction when you need to mount roof battens over compressible insulation materials. The weight of the roof covering can be completely transferred from the fixing thread of the SPAX Iso through the screws into the rafters. This means for you: roof insulation can be easily and securely installed, with the battens aligned to the millimeter over the screws.
