Machine tap made of cobalt-alloyed and vaporized high-performance high-speed steel. Suitable for through threads and blind hole threads in unalloyed and alloyed steels up to 1000 N/mm² strength, as well as stainless metals. The thread is cut in a single operation. "Vaporizing" refers to the deposition of a non-metallic oxide layer. Vaporizing acts as a separating layer and reduces the occurrence of cold welding. Cold welding occurs when workpiece chips weld onto the flank of the tap, damaging the produced thread. The consequences of cold welding are torn and rough thread flanks. VAP improves the adhesion of lubricants to the tool surface. The illustration is schematic. Smaller diameters may be supplied with a tip due to production reasons.
