Hombli Smart Swiss Socket 2+1
Hombli Smart Swiss Socket 2+1
The self-consumption of such devices should actually be labelled by the supplier; I measured and calculated it myself:
In the idle position, a Hombli draws a current of approx. 6 mA, which is about 1.4 watts. That gives approx. 33 Wh/day or in the leap year 2024 approx. 12 kWh at CHF 0.3, making approx. CHF 3.60/year. When switched on, the energy consumption for the Hombli doubles.
The Hombli can only be operated in WLAN and the router consumes approx. 20 watts. Relay stations to increase the range multiply this value accordingly. If the Hombli cannot be switched off, additional costs are incurred.
A hygro/thermostat in the laundry room, for example, is more significant; it is actually only necessary one day a week, but in its electronic form it constantly draws 10 watts for itself, which amounts to 75kWh hours or CHF 23 per year. A mechanical model fulfils the same purpose and does not incur any electricity costs. It's the same with televisions &c.

I chose the product because it is the most compact of its kind and it also allows measuring the current flow.
However, since I prefer to run my home network decoupled from any cloud services, I blocked the sockets from accessing the Internet. It turns out that then the values for current measurement are not supplied.
So, unfortunately, these sockets will be kicked out again.

Basically, the Smart Sockets do what they promise. I got them so that I could restart my WLAN router at a certain time in the early hours of the morning. However, this does not work because the timer that can be programmed no longer works as soon as the WLAN is gone and the WLAN router is therefore no longer started. What a pity! So it seems to be a function via the cloud. The integration into HomeKit works very well, but you have to set up the Hombli's with the Smart Life app from Tuya and not with the Hombli app. But it works exactly the same way. Afterwards, you can integrate them into HomeKit via Homebridge, for example, as there is a plugin for Tuya. Recommendation at the 2+1 price in any case.

I bought the Hombli Smart Socket in a pack of 3. One of the 3 was defective from the start. Galaxus was generous enough to refund me. The 2nd is now also defective and in addition the timer switches on and off randomly although I have programmed it to switch on once at 8am and off again at 8pm. It rarely works as programmed.
I am very disappointed with this product and would advise against buying it. The warranty cases according to Galaxus are also 3x higher than with other smart sockets.

Super. Can be flashed relatively easily using a Raspberry Pi and tuya-cloudcutter with OpenBeken firmware. Work great via MQTT on the Home Assistant.
I calibrated the current and voltage sensors using the OpenBK firmware and now the measured values are amazingly accurate.
