From what I can gather in your question -- it sounds like you are looking to buy the optional tail switch accessory? Usually, the use case for a remote switch is to mount the flashlight into a mount on a Picatinny rail (usually as part of a weapon system), and tapping a remote switch located comfortably close to one of your fingers on the hand operating with a C-clamp grip. For ambidextrous use, mounting the switch portion as well as the mount to hold the flashlight on the bottom rail seems to be the most practical. This looks like it has a Hi and a Lo switch. I am not sure how this specific one functions: I have seen some systems have a "Toggle" function when pressing a button, while other setups require the operator to keep the button pressed, and others may have an optional mode for activating Strobe.
