Sorry, I have no idea, I was also trying to find out the difference, I bought the cheaper version recently and I still have no idea what the difference is. I used it to clean bathroom tiles from lime scale with a scotchbrite pad. It works great, not the most powerful sander though so if you were doing some really heavy duty sanding, maybe something more powerful would be better, but for normal work it should be fine.
