The CIS series solar charge controller from Phocos (5–20 A) is designed for photovoltaic systems exposed to extreme weather and environmental conditions, such as streetlights and navigation buoys. These systems have an increased risk of damage to the power electronics. To ensure better battery charging control under such conditions, Phocos has developed a potted charge controller (IP68), the CIS.

CIS is an industrial-grade charge controller suitable for all practical PV applications. High-quality, four-stage PWM charging is combined with useful features such as low voltage disconnect, flexible load timer functions, and multi-LED system status display. It can be ordered with one output as an on/off switch and one output with dimmer function (CIS).

The corrosion-resistant, epoxy resin-potted circuit board (IP68) is housed in a compact aluminum enclosure. Infrared remote programming accessories (CIS-CU) as well as an intelligent timer function with lighting control are available.

The four-stage battery charging (bulk, float, boost, equalization) is temperature compensated. Automatic detection of system voltage (12/24 V) and an automatic memory function with two voltage disconnect levels are also included.

The CIS has no moving parts, switches, or buttons. Settings such as battery types, deep discharge thresholds, or timer settings can be quickly and easily adjusted via the infrared remote control accessory. All devices are typically connected to the controller via included leads rather than wire connections. This feature prevents the risk of damage from external influences such as corrosion, dust, water, insects, chemicals, and impacts, where components make electrical contact with the controller.
