When burning wood, it is important to know the moisture content of the wood. If the moisture content is too high during combustion, the water must first be heated and evaporated. This results in lower flame temperatures and the production of smoke gases. Additionally, it can lead to incomplete combustion of the wood. In summary, high wood moisture results in poor efficiency, pollutants, and odor emissions. To ensure this, the Bluetooth moisture meter is used. With the Bluetooth wood moisture meter, up to 44 different types of wood can be checked for their moisture content. This includes 36 hardwoods and 8 softwoods, such as beech, spruce, pine, and maple. The measurement value can be up to 150% moisture based on dry mass. To achieve the most accurate measurement results, the Bluetooth moisture meter features both automatic and manual temperature compensation between -20 to +50 °C. To take a measurement, a pair of measuring probes is first driven into the wood using the ram electrode of the Bluetooth moisture meter. Two different pairs of measuring probes are available. The needle pair 45 x Ø3.05 mm can be driven into the wood up to a depth of 30 mm. The 165 x Ø2.85 mm needle pair allows penetration up to a depth of 150 mm. Next, the type of wood to be measured is selected via an Android or iOS device, and the measurement is started. After a few seconds, the current measurement value is displayed. The connection between the Bluetooth moisture meter and the mobile device is established via a Bluetooth 4.0 interface. After a measurement, the value from the Bluetooth wood moisture meter can be saved on the mobile device. The data can be exported in CSV and PDF formats.
