The occupational safety measuring device with acoustic alarm and visual display features a semi-rigid 40 cm long hose. It can detect even the smallest leaks with very low leakage rates using its hydrogen-selective sensor. Containers or pipes that do not contain hydrogen can also be tested for tightness when filled with hydrogen-containing test gas and then checked for leaks. The commercially available forming gas with five percent hydrogen and ninety-five percent nitrogen is well-suited for leak testing. This occupational safety measuring device automatically captures the current hydrogen concentration of the environment each time it is turned on and then only evaluates changes relative to this concentration. The reset button performs the same function during leak detection. If the leak point cannot be clearly identified, even though all indicator LEDs are lit, the reset function can be used to set the current hydrogen concentration as a baseline value to better narrow down the leak's location. After that, the occupational safety measuring device can be reset in an unburdened environment to return to low baseline values. Regardless of the initial concentration level, one of three different sensitivity levels can be set on the occupational safety measuring device at the push of a button. The selected sensitivity is indicated by a lit LED. The "H" stands for high, "M" for medium, and "L" for low.
